The Plane (or Plain) Challenge...12/01/08
The Challenge: Create a photo with your interpretation of the word "Plane" (or "Plain").
The Participants: John (300m), Bill Pador, Karina Boese, The Curious Camel, Creative Deviance, Johnloguk, Lady Kate, and myself.
The Result: Yep, I was hard pressed enough to do a SP! My hair's a mess but hey, this is the only SP I've ever posted and it was a last-ditch attempt to come up with the challenge photo. There are at least three distinct planes here (as in objects in some higher dimensional space). Funny how the doge are looking right at me but not! We'll call this a dimensional shift. :-)
kre8ive > The Hopper...08/08/08

This may be my last daily for some time. I have gotten VERY busy and just can't find the time right now. :-(

Life has gotten busy and exciting.

It's been so much fun meeting all you virtual folks and I will be checking in when I can.

For those of you who recognize this delectable bean, you may be thinking what my original title was going to be (courtesy of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs). For those of you who don't know, this is a fava bean (also known as Windsor beans, English beans, horse beans and pigeon beans) pod. This delicious bean is only available a few short weeks a year. And the line that I didn't use as a title, "Great with fava beans and a nice Chianti." (Hannibal Lecter was a character based on an 18th century cannibal.) Jack And The Beanstalk even appreciated these sumptuous beans!

I don't get elaborate when I cook these beans as their buttery flavor has to hold me over for a year. I parboil and peel them then boil them for twenty minutes with a bit of sea salt (to chase away a slight bitterness).

It will be up to the artist to choose the winner and it will be posted by Thursday morning. Come up with a great title and you can see it Thursday!

When I upload digital shots, many times I have also recreated these on film [35mm or 4" x 5" (for my artistic ones)] so I may not take a shot a day but I do work on at least one shot a day. My digital shots can come out of my camera at 29 megapixels (or more) but my 4 x 5 shots come back to me at 10 times that value [minimum (drum scanned at high dpi)]. Someone recently said that the light meter was a "moron" but I challenge anyone to use a 4 x 5 or an 8 x 10 without one. We are losing the true meaning of creating a unique photo. I, for one, do not want to see that ignored. I know that most of my fellow SmugMuggers are digital only and I plan on showing you the difference in days to come. When I shoot Tri-X, Pan-X, Kodak-VPS (any speed), or EktaChrome in the 4 x 5 format, my control over the final print is WAY beyond digital. When I shoot KodaChrome 25 or 64 in 4 x 5, then no expectation from digital could be met even in the lowest dpi scan. Don't let digital define your reality of photography! It goes so much further than that (digital only captures pixels). I truly love photography for its ability to capture any moment in time but I want to capture that moment accurately!

My digital has replaced my polaroid back pre-shots (but, not effectively).

Oops...another blog!
